Invite your Columbia Heights friends, family, and neighbors to meet me, get to know my positions on the issues, and have their concerns heard.
How it Works
When and Where
You pick a date, time, and place for your event. Typically, residents host meet & greets at their homes. Most people prefer to meet outdoors, such as your:
- Driveway
- Back yard
- Patio / deck
Indoor events are also welcome in your:
- Community Room
- Clubhouse
Although less common, reservations can also be made at city parks and city buildings. Businesses with gathering space are also possibilities.
How to Host
Like any party, your event can be as simple or elaborate as you want.
Super Basic
- Bring your own lawn chair
- Bring your own beverage
Common
- Some chairs provided
- Beverages provided
- Snacks provided
Elaborate
- Full meal provided
- Cocktail bar
- Themed party decorations
- DJ
You will invite your guests. 10 or more confirmed guests is preferred. You can advertise your event on social media, or use online invitations if you like.
What to Expect
As a host, you’ll introduce me to your guests as a group, individually, or both. I want to make sure I get a chance to hear what everyone has to say.
I will bring literature, lawn signs, and swag. I will also have an assistant with me that is able to distribute merchandise, add interested people to mailing lists, etc.
A meet and greet event is not a fundraiser. However, campaigns are expensive, so I won’t turn away donations.
Events are best in late afternoons or evenings, and typically last about 2 hours.
